A Poem for My Tatha

June 16, 2024

In quiet moments, memories unfold,
Of a father’s love, both warm and bold.
Though time was fleeting, and words were few,
In those brief moments, I felt your truth.

With gentle hands, you’d tie my hair,
Ponytails that danced in the morning air.
Though they’d loosen and fall as the day went on,
In that moment, our bond was strong.

You were kind and humble, with a heart so pure,
In a world where you gave, and gave some more.
Taking us to school, with a neighbor in need,
Your kindness shone through each selfless deed.

Though our time was short, and words not many,
In actions, you spoke, and I grasped plenty.
You taught me love, in simple, small ways,
A lesson that lingers and brightens my days.

Now I carry pieces of you within,
Traits and whispers where you’ve always been.
Understanding grows as the years pass by,
Seeing you clearer with my heart’s eye.

I hope you’re watching, from somewhere above,
Feeling my miss, feeling my love.
You were trusting, and generous, and true,
And though many took, your spirit flew.

I love you, Tatha, for all you were,
For the memories, and the lessons so pure.
In my heart, you’ll always stay,
Guiding me gently, day by day.
