A Season of Words and Truth

December 25, 2024

In a world of words, we craft and weave,

Cards on a shelf, stories we believe.

Hallmark phrases wrapped in price,

Do they hold the weight of sacrifice?

Christmas bells, a church in light,

Souls seeking solace in the night.

Goodness judged by where we stand,

Yet it blooms unseen, like grains of sand.

A good heart whispers, it doesn’t show,

In silent depths where truth must grow.

No need for aisles or pews to claim,

What matters most: the soul’s true flame.

Accountability—a tender weight,

Ego resists, but it’s never too late.

To own our wrongs, to stand and say,

“I see my shadow, I’ll choose a new way.”

Self-care, not indulgence, but honest repair,

A mirror of truth, a willingness to dare.

To break the cycle, to pause, to see,

The path of growth is to set oneself free.

Christmas is more than candles and song,

It’s the courage to right what’s been wrong.

To forgive ourselves, but not to forget,

The debts to others we owe and regret.

For every prayer, every hymn, every verse,

Let it guide us to love, to heal, to traverse.

A year’s end is near, a chance to restart,

To live every day with an open heart.

So as the season shines, let’s strive to be,

The truest, kindest versions of “me.”

For in the quiet, where no eyes see,

Lies the gift of grace: our humanity.
