“Act Your Age”—An Irrelevant Concept

January 3, 2025

The phrase “act your age” feels outdated to me. Having gone through my own journey, I’ve realized that age is just a number tied to our physical body. Our souls, however, are ageless. I can be playful, a kid at heart, but I also understand how trauma can leave parts of us emotionally stuck. What some may call childish or immature often reflects a wounded inner child navigating the world. For those who haven’t wrestled with deep trauma, this may be hard to grasp, but for many, maturity is uneven—a patchwork of growth and healing rather than a straight path.

Self-awareness, I feel, not age, that defines maturity. It’s about being present, making better decisions, and understanding ourselves.

I used to believe being sensitive was a flaw, often told I was “too much.” But healing has taught me otherwise. My sensitivity is a gift. I navigate life through energy—what someone doesn’t say often speaks louder than their words. Authenticity is my North Star, a nonnegotiable. Perfection doesn’t impress me; it feels like a mask, a distraction from the truth of who someone really is. It is also why I simply detest manipulation in any form.

What you see with me is what you get. If I’m quiet, I’m not judging—I’m observing. I choose authenticity, even when it’s messy, because truth is where freedom lives.

So, “act your age”? No. I choose to act with awareness, guided by truth, because that’s where real maturity lies.
