“Honesty always gets my attention—but not in the way most people think. It’s not about whether someone is honest with me; it’s whether they are honest with themselves.”

When someone truly owns who they are—flaws, contradictions, and all—without trying to curate an image or perform for others, it’s hard not to trust them. There’s no second-guessing, no wondering if there’s something hidden beneath the surface. Their self-awareness becomes a quiet foundation of trust, not because they’re performing honesty for me, but because they’re living it for themselves.

It’s a perspective I hadn’t fully seen before, but I felt it. Now, I see it clearly. Honesty with oneself is the foundation for everything else. The rest just follows.
