From Performer to Person

March 28, 2025

You live your life thinking it all makes sense—until it doesn’t. One day, life hits hard. Then harder. And somewhere between the unraveling and the ugly crying, you realize: you’ve been on a stage all along.

Healing feels like peeling. Layers of who you thought you were start falling off. You become edgy, reactive—a “bitch,” maybe. But that’s not the real you being awful. That’s the wound screaming. That’s the part of you that’s been hidden, begging to be seen.

Then comes the moment. The one that flattens you. The one that leaves no return ticket to who you used to be. And somehow, in that wreckage, you begin. You get curious. You question everything. People call it a midlife crisis—I call it an awakening.

It’s disorienting. You lose connection with people you love. You want to explain it, but you can’t, because you’re still figuring it out. You’re learning to move through life differently—like remembering a dance you no longer know the steps to.

But this isn’t a new soul. It’s your actual soul. The one that used to be hidden behind the performance.

Some connections won’t survive the truth of who you’re becoming. And that hurts. But you start to understand that they were connecting with your costume, not your core. The guilt comes in waves, but so does clarity.

And one day, you stop striving for great, and find yourself at peace with okay. And wow—okay feels like freedom.

Because this? This is real.
