Think Before You Share

March 29, 2025

To my friends and family living across oceans and borders,

I know it can feel funny or even cathartic to share jokes or memes about how “shitty” this country has become. And trust me—we get it. We’re living it. But I’m writing this as a gentle reminder: we don’t need the constant echo of how broken things look from the outside. Not because it’s untrue—but because it hurts.

This place isn’t defined by one man or his flying monkeys. We’re not them. The people here—many of us—are doing our best to stay grounded, aware, and awake. We’re three months into something we know is going to be excruciating. And your well-meaning laughter or outrage, sent from afar, only amplifies the heaviness we carry every day.

We don’t know where this road leads.

So if you’re outside looking in, I ask you to pause. Think before you share. Let humor be paired with empathy. Let critique come with care. Because it’s not just a joke to us—it’s our lives. And in times like these, compassion is everything.

Thank you for walking with us. Even quietly. Even gently.
