Before You Say “You’re Stuck in the Past..

April 12, 2025

“Stuck in the past” is a surface-level observation. Nobody wants to stay in pain. What you might see as stuck could be someone walking through fire—processing layer after layer of unspoken wounds.

I’ve been told this before. And now that I’ve done the work, I understand why it looked that way. But healing takes time. I had to sit in the dark, ask questions, learn, unlearn, and face things I once couldn’t even name. I didn’t sweep it under the rug or pretend I was okay. I chose honesty, even when it hurt.

So the next time you’re about to say that phrase, pause. Ask yourself: What might they be carrying that I can’t see? Maybe then we can start replacing judgment with curiosity, and careless words with intentional ones.

That small shift? It could heal more than we know.
