AI Is Too Important to Use Without Context

April 14, 2026

AI is moving so fast that it’s easy to use it without stopping to ask what it’s built on, who benefits, and what it may be costing us. That’s why I think Empire of AI by Karen Hao is such an important read.

If AI is going to become one of the most important technologies we ever adopt, then we should understand its foundations, not just consume it because everyone else is. We need context, history, and a more holistic view of what AI is, how it works, and the systems behind it.

I highly recommend reading the book, or listening to the audiobook if that works better for you. And if you’re not ready for the book yet, this interview with Steven Bartlett is a great place to start: https://youtu.be/Cn8HBj8QAbk?si=NU-zEt9Rp24gFdrz
