A Year Wiser: The Freedom in Being True to Yourself

September 19, 2024

As I turn the page today, one year wiser, I’ve learned that being true to yourself also means acknowledging both your mistakes and your limitations. When I’ve made mistakes, I’ve learned to apologize, even if it takes time to come to terms with what happened. But I’ve also realized that if I’ve received an apology and can’t fully accept it yet, I’m still being true to myself. I may hear the apology, but sometimes I can’t receive it right away. And that’s okay. Forgiveness isn’t a word you say; it’s a process. It takes time, and while I’m not there yet for some things in my life, the intention to get there is already a positive step.

What matters most is that my words now come from a place of awareness, from a more healed part of myself. Even though what I express might feel different from what I’ve said in the past, it’s because I’m speaking from a deeper understanding. I’ve learned that staying true to yourself, no matter where you are in the process, is what gives you strength. And as I step into this new chapter, I’m grateful for this awareness and the freedom it brings.

The video below resonates and inspires me deeply as it hits home on a number of different aspects such as, letting go, self-care, staying true to oneself, healing and wisdom.
