Acknowledgment is Key

September 27, 2024

As I continue my journey of healing and self-awareness, I find myself more focused on authenticity and respect in all my interactions. When it comes to my connections, especially on LinkedIn, I realize that being authentic means more than just adding numbers to my network. It’s about engaging with people in a meaningful way, whether personal or professional.

If someone sends me a message, even if it’s a sales pitch that might be in poor taste, I still acknowledge it. Not with a dismissive “thank you, but no thanks,” but with a response that gives the other person an opportunity to be seen and heard. I believe that’s important—everyone deserves to feel acknowledged. This comes from a place of respect, a core value for me, and it’s something I want to be more mindful of moving forward.

It’s not about consistency for the sake of it—it’s about staying true to my core values. I want to bring that sense of authenticity and respect into my professional network, just as I do in my personal life. To me, acknowledging someone, no matter how small the interaction, is a way of giving back, and that’s something I believe every human being deserves.
