Breadcrumbs Are Not the Meal

June 1, 2025

Some friendships and relationships aren’t built on depth. They’re wrapped in convenience—comfortable so long as you don’t disrupt the ease of someone else’s life. You’re kept around because you give something, not always because you’re seen, valued, or truly embraced.

And if you’ve ever doubted your worth, if you’ve ever gotten used to the bare minimum, you might confuse tolerance for love. You might think breadcrumbs are the whole damn feast.

But healing has its own timeline. Sometimes, it takes years before it hits you: you were being tolerated, not treasured. You realize that the moment you speak your truth, it’s over for them. And that’s when it becomes clear—real ones don’t ghost you for being honest.

So take inventory. Look closely. Are they really your people? Or are they just comfortable with your silence, your compliance, your role in their convenience?

I choose authenticity—even if it costs me company. The right people won’t just tolerate your presence, they’ll honor your essence.
