If I Have to Ask, I Don’t Want It

June 7, 2025

This quote attributed to Frida Kahlo is more than just a letter to a partner—it’s a raw declaration of the need for authenticity in love, in connection, in life. It struck me the moment I saw it, because it encapsulates something I deeply believe: the best things in life—love, support, care, presence—must come unasked. If it’s not given freely, it loses its meaning.

Authenticity isn’t just a buzzword. It’s the foundation of trust, of intimacy, of being seen. Manufactured affection or forced effort can never replace what flows naturally from someone who truly sees you, hears you, and chooses you—not out of obligation, but from the heart.

This post is deep because it’s honest. It doesn’t plead. It doesn’t demand. It simply says: I want what’s real. And that resonates with everything I value. I’d rather have silence that’s genuine than words that are rehearsed. Love that’s felt than gestures that are performed.
