What it means to be and feel free, has changed for me.
We throw around the word freedom so easily. We say, “I’m free” when we leave a job, a relationship, or a situation that felt like a trap. But is that really freedom? I don’t think so. It’s what we want to feel, but true freedom doesn’t just appear because we’ve run away from something or someone. Running away isn’t freedom—it’s avoidance.
Freedom, for me, is when nothing owns you. It’s when you’ve faced all your demons, stared them down, and keep refacing them as they show up. And here’s the key: they don’t control you anymore. Freedom isn’t the absence of challenges; it’s the strength to meet them without being defined by them.
It’s not about escaping—it’s about being fully present. Fully alive in this moment, with no need to run, no chains pulling you back, and no invisible threads pulling your strings. It’s the peace that comes when your past no longer owns you, your fears no longer steer you, and your ego no longer blinds you.
That’s what freedom means to me. Not running, but standing still. Present. Whole. Free.
