It Started Somewhere

April 3, 2025

Colonization didn’t begin as pure evil. Maybe it started with the idea of improving lives, of bringing systems or solutions. But somewhere along the way, it turned. Greed seeped in. Power took the front seat. And instead of collaboration, it became imposition—deciding what’s best for others without truly seeing them.

That pattern hasn’t disappeared. It’s alive today in modern clothes—corporations, politics, personal relationships. Power still preys on the powerless. Good intentions often get hijacked by self-interest. Even in nonprofits or governments meant to serve, we see misuse, mistrust, and the need for checks and balances. Why? Because somewhere, someone lost sight of truth.

Human complexity is not the problem. Our disconnection is.

We keep looking outward for progress, but the real shift happens inward—with presence, awareness, and understanding. Psychology isn’t soft science; it’s the invisible infrastructure. There is a return on investment in caring—because relationships, whether personal or political, build stronger, more sustainable systems.

We need to stop seeing the world as something to conquer, and start seeing people as something to connect with.

It all starts somewhere. Let it start with awareness.
