The Rape of Authenticity: The Violent Impact of Manipulation

September 30, 2024

Manipulation is a word that carries the weight of something much deeper, something more invasive. To me, it feels like a rape of someone’s ability to be authentically themselves, stripping away their autonomy and forcing them into a mold that suits the manipulator’s needs. It’s not just about control; it’s about the violation of someone’s core essence, robbing them of their freedom to choose, to feel, and to express who they truly are. When manipulation occurs, it’s not just behavior being bent; it’s the entire spirit of a person being contorted to fit someone else’s agenda, leaving them disconnected from their truth.
