The Real Cost of Dismissing Wisdom

February 1, 2025

The narrative of society about the elderly is that they have dealt with stress throughout their life—now you are free just go and enjoy life. In this way, we neglect seeing that they have more valuable assets like the knowledge that they have accumulated through the years.

Most firms disregard a great resource by not using such experience. Certainly, younger people are the ones to whom vigor, new ideas, and the ability to adapt to technology are attributed. However, experience has shown us that the marriage between understating and creativity is the best recipe for the top outcomes.

What’s more interesting is that companies which hire consultants and offer training all spend millions of dollars to look for some solutions, while a good deal of the wisdom they need is already in the minds of the persons that they have been pushing aside.

Rather than planning for older workers’ retirement before they are ready, what about asking them to be mentors, to guide, and to give their insight? This is not only a matter of respect but also a way to cut costs and wastage of time along with mistakes that will be costly.

Admittedly, the concern for the future is vital, but the past also bears importance. Disregarding knowledge is a choice that is costly and unwise.
