The Stories We Tell to Stay the Same

January 12, 2025

Narratives are powerful. They shape how we see the world—and ourselves. But here’s the truth: sometimes, the stories we tell are shields. Shields we craft, unconsciously or intentionally, to avoid pain, face our mistakes, or confront our demons.

I’ve learned this from my own experience. For much of my life, I chose flight—It felt safe, but it wasn’t healing. Running from triggers doesn’t lead to growth; it keeps you trapped. True healing begins when you stop running and meet your demons head-on.

This isn’t easy. It happens when you’re ready—when you’ve done enough work to love yourself, to understand that your mistakes don’t define you, and to rewrite your story. And when you do, you’ll see who embraces your evolution. Those are your people.

Healing isn’t about judgment. It’s about truth. And truth doesn’t live in the stories we tell to stay the same.
