The Thrill of the Unknown: Embracing the Power of Big Waves

February 22, 2025

There’s something about big waves that captures the soul. Maybe it’s the sheer power they hold, the potential danger they bring—it’s a reminder that nature’s force is both beautiful and deadly. It’s like the ocean itself is challenging you: I’m coming. See if you can get close. It is unforgiving. It is not for everyone. Watching surfers navigate these waves is captivating. I think I love the surfing community because, in many ways, they embody unpredictability.

Each wave is unique, a gift from Mother Nature, and there’s no perfect way to predict or master it. It’s all about surrendering to the moment, embracing the unknown, and letting go. That energy, that acceptance of what comes, is something I resonate with deeply. It reminds me of the authenticity I hold so close—nothing is manufactured.

I could watch big waves all day, all night. The anticipation of that next, bigger wave is always there, a perfect metaphor for life’s surprises. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s full of life.
