When Life Kicks You Hard Enough to Listen

February 23, 2025

Taking less than you deserve—it’ll hit you. Whether you feel it in the moment or not, it’ll hit you. And when it does, the awakening will be undeniable.

The thing about accepting less is that it often creeps in quietly. You lower your boundaries little by little, convincing yourself that kindness means accommodation. But one day, life throws a gut punch so hard it forces you to look at everything—what you’ve carried, how you’ve been seen through others’ eyes, and how much time has passed living that way.

For some, it takes a serious wake-up call. The kind that shakes your foundation and forces a downward spiral before the real work begins. And that work? It’s not easy. It’s about learning to hear yourself again, understanding what you need, and—more importantly—what you no longer want.

At the core of it all are your values. The unshakable principles that define who you are. They’re not up for negotiation, not something to bend for convenience. You just hope to find people who align with them. But whether they do or not, the real shift happens when you stop compromising on them for the sake of anyone else.
