When I Met Myself

November 17, 2024

I am not for everyone,

And everyone is not for me.

But I’ve made peace with the truth

That I am exactly who I’m meant to be.

I see the pieces of my puzzle,

The cracks, the scars, the fire.

I understand why they exist,

And in them, I see my entire.

The tribe I walk with knows my soul,

Beyond the surface, through the flame.

No color, label, or fleeting role

Defines the bond that shares my name.

Love, to me, is not a face

Nor the form that others chase.

It’s the spark of truth, unmanufactured,

A soul connection, pure, unfractured.

For anything less will fade away,

No matter how it fills the gaps.

What isn’t real will lose its sway,

A hollow echo, a fleeting clasp.

When I met myself, it wasn’t love at first sight,

But it was freedom, fierce and bright.

And in that freedom, I found my way,

To love, to peace, to a lighter day.

To those who see me and see me whole,

Who meet my essence and touch my soul,

We flow like rivers, no effort to bind,

A natural rhythm, no need to find.

For those who don’t, there’s no disdain,

Our demons just speak a different refrain.

It’s not judgment, just a parting cue,

A simple truth: what’s not for you, is not for you.

So meet yourself, no rush, no fear.

It may not be love, but freedom is near.

And in that space where you feel free,

Love will find you, authentically.
