The Power of Speaking Your Truth

October 9, 2024

I wish I could roll up the perfect ingredients for healing and speaking your truth and hand them to you like a recipe. But the reality is, everyone’s journey is different. The time it takes to process, to heal, and to stand tall in your truth—it’s all unique to each of us.

But here’s what I can tell you: when you reach a point where you feel confident being your true self, without fear of judgment, everything changes. People will misunderstand you—some may not like what you have to say, how you carry yourself, or the way you express yourself. And that’s okay. It will start to matter less. You’re still human, but these things will affect you less.

And when that shift happens, you’ll notice something remarkable: your real friends, your true supporters, the people who see you—not just hear you—will stand out. They’ll understand you because they see the essence of who you are.

The biggest dishonor you can do to yourself is staying silent, not speaking your truth. For those who begin life loving themselves or knowing their worth, this might be a familiar road. But for others, it’s a journey. And even though the paths we walk look different, the goal is the same: authenticity. Commit to that journey. It’s worth it.

As Audre Lorde so powerfully expressed, the more you speak your truth, the easier it becomes. You might lose people along the way, but you’ll also find those who cherish you for exactly who you are.
