One of the hardest truths I’ve learned is this:
You cannot force an ending while your emotions are still tied to an outcome.
Whether you want to be seen, heard, understood, loved, or simply acknowledged, the attachment keeps you trapped in the story.
I’ve often looked at people who seem genuinely unshaken by whether others validate them and wondered, How do they do that? Were they always like this?
Now I think I understand.
You don’t think your way there.
You don’t read enough books to get there.
You don’t attend enough yoga classes to get there.
You don’t perform healing.
You become it.
That is the part nobody can do for you.
There are no shortcuts.
You have to sit with the discomfort. You have to question your patterns. You have to stop abandoning yourself just because someone else couldn’t meet you where you needed them to.
Some days you’ll feel strong. Other days you’ll wonder if you’re making any progress at all. You’ll want to rush it. You’ll think, How do I get there faster?
The answer is… you can’t.
Healing has its own pace.
The only thing you can do is keep showing up honestly. Keep choosing truth over performance. Keep believing that every difficult conversation with yourself is moving you closer to freedom, even when it doesn’t feel like it.
Then one day, almost without realizing it, something shifts.
The chaos becomes quieter.
You stop chasing outcomes.
You stop needing other people to validate what you already know to be true.
You finally trust yourself.
That kind of freedom cannot be bought. It cannot be faked. It cannot be performed.
It can only be lived.
Perhaps that’s what Rumi meant when he wrote, “As you start to walk on the way, the way appears.”
You don’t need to know exactly how long the journey will take.
You only need enough courage to take the next honest step.
The rest unfolds from there.
